Moko ‘The Dolphin’ will be always missed


Hundreds people gathered for the funeral ceremony of Moko the dolphin to say good bye, and farewell in Whakatane.


Hundreds of people gathered for the funeral ceremony of Moko to say Good bye. They carried photographs, dolphin balloons, and boogie boards. the body of Moko was in a big blue box jewellery box, decorated with flowers. While manay people had tears in their eyes, many also had smiles on their faces, because they had fond memories of Moko.

Moko came in the light in March 2008. She helped a worker who was trying to protect two whales caught between a sandbar and the beach. Moko helped him in finding the right direction and escape from this critical situation. Moko liked to play with bathers at the beach.
